Try playing Roll Through the Ages with the variant that Rick from Gryphon games taught. Play that the game ends if all the monuments are built AND one person builds five developments. It adds a couple of turns to the game, which isn't too much while allowing you to use some of the developments you've built.
Posted by Bobby Warren at August 20, 2009 5:21 PMIf you play with the "Late Bronze Age" rules, you get to use your abilities more. They're free at http://rollthroughtheages.com/latebronzeage.php
Posted by Jeff at August 20, 2009 6:46 PMTry playing Roll Through the Ages to 7 technologies rather than 5. You will have more time to implement your special powers.
Posted by Clay B at August 21, 2009 9:13 AMI'll second the recommendation for the Late Bronze Age variant, Susan. It adds quite a bit to the game and doesn't take that much longer to play.
Posted by Larry Levy at August 28, 2009 8:47 PMI've heard that complaint about Roll Through the Ages a lot too - it's good, just not great.
